Email verification API

Send one HTTP request, get one answer: valid, invalid, risky or unknown. Use it on sign-up forms, in your CRM or in a no-code tool before you send to an address.

  • Included in paid plans
  • One credit per address
  • No email is ever sent
Request
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  "https://mailbite.io/api/v1/[email protected]"

The mail server is asked whether the mailbox exists, but no message is ever sent, so the recipient never knows. One address costs one credit.

Good to know

  • Up to 1,500 requests per minute per key. Set a timeout of about 45 seconds: a slow mail server can take that long.
  • One credit per verification, also for unknown. A malformed address (422) or a short outage (503) is free.
  • Errors: 401 wrong key, 402 no credits, 403 API not in your plan, 429 too many requests.

Questions

Is the API free?

API access is included in every paid plan. You can try single checks free on the home page, without an account.

Does it send an email to the address?

No. It asks the receiving mail server whether the mailbox exists and stops before any message is sent.

What does unknown mean?

The mail server gave no reliable answer. Retry later or treat the address with care. It still uses a credit.
