How to Verify Email
A step-by-step guide to verifying one email address or a whole list, and how to read the results.
You can verify an address in seconds and a list of thousands in minutes. This is the process.
Verify a single address
- Open the Mailbite home page or your dashboard.
- Type the address and press Verify.
- Read the result: format, address type, server status and final email status.
Verify a list
- Prepare a CSV or TXT file with one address per row. Extra columns are fine; the first column is read.
- Upload the file from the bulk verification page.
- Watch the results build in real time.
- Download the cleaned file when processing ends.
How to read results
- Valid: safe to send.
- Invalid: the mailbox or domain does not exist; remove it.
- Risky or accept-all: the server accepts everything, so the mailbox cannot be confirmed; send carefully or segment these addresses.
- Disposable: a throwaway inbox; usually not worth keeping.
After verifying
Remove invalid addresses, review risky ones, and keep the verified file as your master list. Download results within 14 days, because files are archived after that.
Before you start
Have the address or file ready. For a list, a single column of addresses in CSV, XLS, XLSX or TXT works best. If your file has other columns such as names, keep them: the result file keeps your rows and adds the status.
Reading a result in practice
Suppose a file of 2,000 contacts returns 1,640 valid, 180 invalid, 90 risky, 60 disposable and 30 unknown.
- Send to the 1,640 valid addresses as normal.
- Remove the 180 invalid and the 60 disposable ones.
- Hold the 90 risky ones back and send them in a small, separate batch, then check how many bounce.
- Retry the 30 unknown ones later. Servers that did not answer once often answer the next day.
That turns a vague list into four clear decisions in a few minutes.
Common mistakes
- Verifying once and never again. Lists decay, so schedule a re-check.
- Deleting risky addresses without looking. Some are real customers behind a catch-all server.
- Mixing verified and unverified contacts in one campaign, which hides where bounces come from.
