BIMI and Brand Logos in the Inbox: Is It Worth It?
BIMI shows your logo next to messages in supporting inboxes. What it needs, what it costs in effort and who should bother.
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets supporting mailbox providers show your verified logo next to your emails.
What you need
- A DMARC policy at enforcement (quarantine or reject) on the sending domain
- A logo in SVG Tiny PS format, published at a URL
- For some providers, a Verified or Common Mark Certificate that proves the logo belongs to you
- A BIMI DNS record that points to the logo
What you get
- A recognisable logo in the inbox at supporting providers
- A trust signal that can help recognition and engagement
- A reason to finally reach DMARC enforcement
What it does not do
BIMI does not improve deliverability by itself and does not work in every inbox. Support and display rules vary by provider and change over time.
Who should bother
Brands that send high volumes to consumers, financial and e-commerce senders, and anyone whose customers need to tell real mail from phishing.
First things first
Reaching DMARC enforcement requires clean authentication and healthy lists. Fix the foundation before the logo: authenticate your domain and verify your list with the bulk verifier.
Clean your list before you send
Verify 100 email addresses free every month. Plans start at $19.90 a month for 25,000 verifications.
