Email verification for n8n

Find the addresses that bounce before you send. Mailbite checks syntax, domain, mail server, disposable providers and the mailbox itself, without sending a message.

  • 100 free verifications every month
  • One HTTP request per address

Why verify in n8n

One HTTP Request node verifies an address and an IF node branches on the answer. It works the same in n8n Cloud and self-hosted.

A Mailbite API key (API access is included in every paid plan) and an automation that can send a web request with a header.

How it works with n8n

  1. Start a workflow with your trigger, such as a Webhook, a form or a database query.
  2. Add an HTTP Request node: method GET, URL https://mailbite.io/api/v1/verify, Send Query Parameters on, name email, value {{ $json.email }}.
  3. Set Authentication to Generic Credential Type, then Header Auth. Name Authorization, value Bearer YOUR_API_KEY. The key stays in the credential, not in the node.
  4. Under Options set Timeout to 45000 ms, because a slow mail server can take that long.
  5. Add an IF node: {{ $json.result }} is equal to valid. True continues, false goes to a review branch.

A tip: Looping over many items? Use Loop Over Items with a short Wait to stay under 1,500 requests a minute.

What the results mean

  • Valid: The mailbox exists. Send.
  • Invalid: The address cannot receive mail. Remove it.
  • Risky: Accepts mail but cannot be confirmed, for example a catch-all domain. Send in small batches and watch bounces.
  • Unknown: The server did not answer. Retry later.

Frequently asked questions

Can I verify a whole table?

Yes, by looping over the rows. For a large file the bulk verifier is faster than thousands of single requests.

Where is the API documented?

In your account under API, and in the public OpenAPI file linked on the API page.
